Deciding What Earns a Spot on the Marquee

People occasionally ask why a new game doesn't show up every week, given how many types of round exist in this general space. The honest answer is that I'd rather add one game properly than five games half-finished. Each addition to this site gets its own pass on colors, symbols and pacing before it's allowed anywhere near the main list.

There's also a question of whether a game actually fits the theme, rather than just being bolted on because it's popular elsewhere. A round built around cards or dice slots in fairly easily. Something built entirely around a concept with no obvious cinema angle takes longer, because I'd rather reshape it than ship something that feels stuck on for the sake of variety.

I keep a rough shortlist of what might come next, and it changes more than you'd expect. Sometimes a game gets pushed up the list because a particular mechanic turns out to be simple to build well; sometimes something I was excited about gets shelved because early versions just weren't fun enough to justify finishing.

The pace probably frustrates anyone hoping for a big library quickly, and that's a fair trade I'm willing to make. A smaller set of games that all feel considered beats a long list where half of them feel rushed. That's been true since the first few games went up and hasn't really changed since.
